DPRK

This was the place I selected as my first location to travel abroad. I wasn't even aware one could travel to the DPRK until a few months before my trip. Why the DPRK as my first location abroad? One, curiosity. It simply appealed to me how different the DPRK would be from any other country. We hear so much about it yet know so little. Two, it would push me past my comfort zone in a way few other countries can. This was going to be my 1st trip abroad and I wanted to visit someplace that would push my boundaries. The enigma of North Korea offered just that; a mysterious country which many people fear and judge due to the political climate. I booked a weeklong trip through Koryo Tours since it is one of the oldest and moost reputable tour companies to North Korea. The trip took place from 2 July to 9 July 2016. We explored Pyongyang and the southern parts of North Korea along Kaesong & Kumgang in addition to the east coast along Hamhung.

The pictures below link to albums of the cities mentioned above. Here is a detailed itinerary of the tour.

Below is my playlist of videos I recorded in the DPRK. The last 5 videos include a 'documentary' about our trip recorded by a local guide and a video series by a fellow traveller, Sarhaniy, who was on the same trip.
