Easter Island (Rapa Nui) was the second stop on my South American trip. I've always wanted to travel to a remote island so why not spend New Year's Eve on one of the most remote islands in the world? After hiking through the Andes it was a relaxing experience spending a week on the island. The first few days I explored Orongo Crater, hiked the western coast, and cycled around the island. After New Year's festivities on Hanga Roa I lounged around in Anakena beach or by the seashore next to town.
