Originally I planned on briefly stopping by Beijing on my way to North Korea but I decided to stay longer and explore Beijing and Zhangjiajie. Since I was already there why not explore some more? It would help me expand my views of a different culture. Also, for a 1st trip, it would make most other trips easier in comparison. I spent about 4 days in Beijing (before and after North Korea) and a week in Zhangjiajie. In Beijing I visited the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and the Great Wall of China (Mutianyu). In Zhangjiajie I explored the national park, Yellow Dragon Cave, Baofeng Lake, and Tianmen Mountain where I got to see the Fox Fairy show, a spectacular open air play with an actual mountain as the backdrop.
